What IS that old expression about Peoria??? Ah yes, "Will it play in Peoria?" This expression is an age-old throwback to the Vaudevillian days when Peoria was a test market for new shows, concerts, singers, and lots more.

NOW the expression is: "We want YOU to play in Peoria!" There is a lot to do in this River City, and I am happy to be your guide.

While the city does have its share, perhaps more, of chain restaurants, these are not the aim of this reviewer. I want to emphasize the smaller, locally owned shops that bring a unique flavor to the city. We are a Midwestern city and the restaurants reflect that heritage.

We have a wealth of very fine Italian restaurants, and we have seen a number of Mediterranean/Indian/Pakistani restaurants that are starting up and showing some promise as well! With a nod to the influence of the Latino community and residents, there are also a number of Latino-influenced locations around the area.

I will continue to report on the latest openings, and report on a number of long-established spots, with a solid review to let you know where and when you need to go, and what may best be avoided to help you make the right decisions.
